Immanuel Banner

I've been loving all the banners that have been sported on mantels, shelves and walls for the past while.
I thought I'd give making one a try, but I wanted a Christmas word on it that really meant something to me.
So I started by reading the Christmas story in Matthew, and saw Matthew 1:23 NLT

“Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel, which means ‘God is with us."

The word Immanuel really jumped out at me. It's not a word I always associate with Christmas, but Immanuel means, "Christ with us", which really sums up the entire Holiday, if you ask me!

So that is how the Immanuel Banner began.
Here's a quick tutorial.

Tutorial:

Started with Old English font (not so sure I'd use Old English again, I love it, but it is hard to read). Font size 325. This is on an old version of Word on my dinosaur computer.

After printing, I found a square part of a frame I had to make a square around each letter. If you have any computer skills, you could probably get the square around it before you printed it, and  this would be quicker for you.....next time I'll spend the time to figure this out.

Next I took my Distress Ink (you can find it at Hobby Lobby) and "aged" the edges.

Then I punch holes in the top and added twine. Look at this twine!!! I found this the other day at the thrift store for $4!!!

I thought I should add the verse on the banner.

So there it is: The Immanuel Banner

Pinwheels were made by following a downloadable tutorial at www.jonesdesigncompany.com
*One other note: You will be able to find this in our SHOP (see tab up top)
