Oh Come on,.....Knock it Off! #2

I think it's time for another addition of......

Oh Come on, ......Knock it Off!

Not only is this just a fun post to write, but I've spent most of my "reno-time" this week painting trim and puttying walls.....not the most exciting things to post about!

So, here we go!......

This time, I'm going to give them some titles.

For my first knock-off victim, I will say it wins the

"I Totally Want to do This!" title.

Now I just need to find some cool cups that have little bubbles in them (I've seen them somewhere, I just know it!) and then I need some paint that WON'T wash off in the dishwasher. I'm sure any craft store would have that on hand.

Aren't these beautiful. They are Anthropology for $10/glass. Considering we are talking about Anthropology, I didn't think the price was that bad.

The next knock-off possibility I will title, "Really!?"
It is from Dwell Studios for $1,095.00!

They have it pictured above a couch and is does look pretty cool, but let's trace a bucket lid and take some paint and I think we'll be pretty close!

#3 will be titled. "Saw That at the Goodwill Last Week!"

Although I love this hanging lamp from West Elm ($299.00), it does look oh so similar to baskets I see at the Goodwill from time to time. Add a pendent kit from Home Depot and you're good to go!

#4  I will call this knock-off possibility, "A + B = C", because if we take some IKEA glass storage containers plus a pendent light kit from Lowes or Home Depot, I think we could equal this
cool light fixture from West Elm....you know we could figure it out! (the cords come in black, white and bronze BTW).

 Could equal:

#5 I will title: "This One's for You!".

Grab some red and white stripped material, (or paint the stripes if you must), and you could even stencil the stars if you couldn't find that fabric, and sew a cute and festive table runner! Or, if you have flag making material at your fabric store, you could buy enough to make a flag, cut the flag in half and sew the ends together.

Or...you could buy this one at Potterybarn for $69!

So there are my knock-off's for this week's addition of....
Oh Come on ....Knock it Off!

Hopefully I'll have some projects complete in the near future! Trim work and baseboards....they're never ending!

  2. I have large tumblers that look exactly like those rainbow anthro confetti glasses. I live in Asia and got them at a gift shop for $2 each! I'm not sure how the paint would work, since the confetti is actually little circles of colored glass inside the bubble glass. But it could be pretty! I love #4, great idea!

    1. I have some friends who were missionaries in S. America who have something similar too! Funny, I guess we have to go to other countries to get them for a reasonable price! lol

  3. What fun! I have so many plans and ideas (both for knock-offs and just for creativity in general) that never come to fruition because there just aren't enough hours in the day... I love the idea of sharing them when the inspiration strikes, and not necessarily waiting for the finished project! :) Thanks, and God Bless!

  5. Oooh I love these ideas! I particularly love the glass storage container lamps! Brilliant way to knock those off! The circle painting also highly amuses me albeit I would never place it in my house!

  6. I am a missionary in the Caribbean and have glasses like that! haha. I love love love your Knock It Off section! All my life I have walked into stores/ looked at a magazine/ or seen an advertisement and though "what? I could totally make that for a fraction of the cost!" i rarely do, but still it's the principle :)
