Here it is...still pretty unfinished, but a room we are in a lot and enjoy :)
Couch: free, except fabric. I recovered it.
Chairs: $30 each I believe. I planned on recovering them, but the fabric ended up growing on me in this room.
Everything else is basically under $5 at either yard sales or off Craigslist. Except the jute rug that was about $80....but what can a girl do?
Curtains are not my fav, but were already here and on a pulley system (great for that huge window!), so I tried to update them by adding fabric. There's barn red flowered fabric on the bottom.
The 9 mirror frames are from the dollar store. The paintings in the side office I did myself by tracing plates and bowl bottoms. They were painted on some shelves that were laying around from the previous owners. Desk in office and side table were both for free off Craigslist and off the side of the road :) Actually the plant was $10, I think everything else was cheaper!
Huge painting was $4 at the Goodwill, and the distressed cabinet was $5 in someone's yard down the road. Most of the artwork I did on photoshop and then had printed out at Walmart. The is a picture of my kid's tackling my husband. So, there it is. Most people seem to enjoy it. Most days I love it, somedays I wonder if it looks like I live in a Goodwill...lots still to do, but that's what's fun!

haha! I just noticed that I failed to mention the electrical is getting done soon....hence the wires sticking out of the wall on that last pic!
ReplyDeleteLooks very nice and comfortable for just having to put it together with thrifty finds. I love those two chairs that you kept the way you got them.
ReplyDeleteI love it!! You are my thrifty idol!! It DOES NOT look like you live in a goodwill, and I was actually taken back to find that you did everything so inexpensively! I love your artwork and I'm glad you didn't recover the chairs too! I really like them! Fabulous job!!

Hi Katie,
ReplyDeleteI love decorating too. Love what you have done and on a shoestring budget. I think we can live really well and not spend a fortune, so I am with you girl. Thought the artwork from tracing the plates and pot lids was amazing and very pretty,
and the mirrors from dollar store was it!!
Looks warm and inviting! The more you do it the better you get at it too!!
Thanks for sharing, I think it is wonderful when we take what we have and make the best of it, that has always been my motto, and I truly believe that is exactly what the Lord would have us do. So good for you katie.
That is hard when you are in the military and moving a lot to create a nice home envirionment for your family, but you are doing a great job. 5 children, you don't look old enough to have 5 children I must say!!
Blessings to you hon,
Nellie
I think your room looks fantastic. Don't recover those chairs - I love that fabric. You've found some amazing things - I love that cupboard. Thanks for sharing your room.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great family room. I love the "recycled" look because it looks like things you've collected over the years (not like a Goodwill store) and it really adds charm to the room!
ReplyDeleteHi Katie, what a great living room! I'm with everyone else....love the chairs!! :) I love buying second hand, we're just adding to the history! Great job!
ReplyDeleteThis is my type of room! Love everything...especially those chairs. Definitely don't recover them. I think a true home is one compiled of many different elements, each with a story, and you have truly done that here.
ReplyDeleteI love those chairs. I won't recover them. I love your idea with the dollar store mirrors too. It looks great on that wall.
ReplyDeleteWow! Are you clever! Don't recover those chairs, I love them!
ReplyDeleteCozy and happy!
ReplyDeleteWarm blessings,
Spencer
