Whoo! Tile backsplash is finished! I have to admit, between the floor, around the door, around the window and the backsplash area, I'm sort of tired of tiling!
So, I was originally going to paint it, but by the time I added up what the supplies would cost, I figured it would cost me about $100 more just to tile it, plus, it would look nicer, hold up better and probably be easier with a housefull of kids (painting tile with the right stuff can be super stinky!) Being unsure of how it would really turn out, I just decided to re-tile.
Oh the lovely yellow before....
I actually sort of liked the yellow, but with new granite countertops, it was showing it's age (64 yrs)! And let's face it, not every buyer wants yellow tile!
This is a pic right after the counter installation.
Choices.....white subway tile, and a fun, backsplash bottom. I bought the ft x ft squares and cut them into 4 strips to save on $.
This was quite the project. The old tile went around the door and window, all the way up to the ceiling, so I could either drywall mud and sand and resand (and deal with all that mess!), or spend about $30 more dollars and just re-tile over it.....re-tile, definetly!
Ok, saving the big pictures for the kitchen reveal.....hopefully within the month. We have sanding and repainting cupboards next and then all the detail work!
