Yup, it's With the Kid's Wednesday again! This week we're featuring "Copy Cat Chloe", and her Oscar de la Renta Headphone Knock-off!
It all started when I saw these headphones on Pinterest! They are the Dr. Dre headphones that have had a makeover by Oscar de la Renta. They had Chloe written all over them!
So, considering they were $695!!!, we thought we'd better try to make our own.
Tutorial:
You will need:
*Faux furry fabric
* some thread (in a matching color)
* some felt
* a pair of headphones (I found mine at the Dollar Store)
* pillow stuffing
( if you already have thread, and some stuffing, this will cost you under $4 most likely)
First, you take your faux fur and make 2 circles with it. I used a bowl to measure that was 6 inches in diameter. I think this was the perfect size, of course keep in mind, I was making them for a 9 yr old.
Then you sew around the edges of the circles (individually). You will back stitch at the beginning of the circle and not at the end, so you can gather the ends.
It should look about like this (never mind the strange orange color. I could only find a highlighter to trace the bowl, and no one will see it anyways)
After you finish pulling one string to gather the fabric, tie a knot so that the gathers don't come undone.
Next you will cut two circles out of felt. I made mine 3 inches in diameter.
Next you will stuff it with some pillow stuffing, or foam, or whatever you want really. (I used pillow stuffing), and then you will place the circle of felt over it and stitch around the edges.
Next, sew the ear muff to the headphones. Just at the top, as shown above.
Then, hot glue the felt part to the headphone.
Now you have your own pair of Oscar de la Renta knock-off headphones!
I think she likes them :)
