Metal Sphere Lampshade

This one you might hate....

or you might love....

Hmmm, a metal sphere lampshade....um, where did I come up with this??

I'm sure you've seen all the metal open lampshades...

This one is BEAUTIFUL by Bella Nest (she is awesome and guest posted  with this on my blog). You can read about it HERE.

My decor star: Vintage Revivals. It's hard to see, but she has a metal open lamp shade on the desk. 

 I know you've seen all the globe lamp covers going on...Love them! These are some used in Young House Love's kitchen reno.

So....what about a combination?   

Maybe a open metal lampshade, the shape of a globe? 

Well,...let's try it. 

Here's my basement lamp. We needed more light, but if you remember, there's A LOT going on already in this room, so we need something simple. A typical lampshade would be too much. 

I found these babies at the GW. I was originally going to use them as a hanging globe style lamp cover, but when my "low basement light problem" came along, I decided to give them a try on the stand-up lamp.

I would really love to have some mad welding skills. 

I can just imagine all the awesome chandeliers and rod iron projects I could create.

But my HS welding class training wasn't going to cut it for this project. 

And the hubby was out of town...

So who else to ask, but my dad :) 

It's really great having a dad that lives on a farm, and knows how to weld and has all the convenient machinery!

Um, Dad....I have a little project that I was hoping you could help me on...

I'm sure it would just take you a minute (ok...maybe a little more).

Then I had to rewire the lamp. Good Ol' Martha, will teach you how to rewire a lamp HERE. 

Ya, my parent's said, "well, that's different". 

and I had to agree. It is different. 

But, I might be on to something here....

because I kind of like it, 

and once you see it in the basement, next to my TV entertainment rolling thingy....that's still being made,

and the cute plant and plant holder.

You'll realize that it's a great place to have some light,

and that a shade would overwhelm the space,

and that my slightly strange, metal spherical lampshade....

is just perfect :)
