I think I can consider the back entryway finished for this year.
This is how it looked when we returned from South Carolina mid-April.
(The white on the door is wainscoting, where I replaced the previous owner's dogie door two years ago.)
Here is my mini-makeover.
You may have seen my insulator coat rack tutorial.
When I posted the tutorial, and showed the picture below, I had many questions about the color of the door.
The truth is, the color is actually from the previous owners (probably a late 80's teal thing.) I had to paint the wainscoting and didn't have the exact color, so I mixed craft paint from Walmart until I had a color that was VERY close. It was just the slightest bit different, so to blend it all together, I varnished the door with Prevential stain from Minwax and quickly wiped most of it off.
I like how it turned out.
Next, I posted about my Summer Cheater's Pillows. They work in this space. They are not over-the-top awesome, but I had all the supplies on hand, so they were basically free, and free is awesome.
The chairs were from a sale at Ace Hardware. The table was $1 at a yard sale. I just added a little paint.
This year I added some height to my planters, by simply using the other $1 yard sale table. Both the large metal planter and the black canning pot were given to me by a friend going through her mother's garage, and the red lantern was a yard sale find that I sprayed red.
The star was from a craft store with a 40% off coupon. I spray painted it and the lantern to match the geraniums. I can't even remember where the red planters are from.
...and since someone did ask about the rug, it is from Lowes, $3 clearance! The iron wall decor was from a family friend who didn't want it anymore. I think they used to be hangers of some sort. I sprayed them black and turned them sideways.
Done for this year (or so I think). Next year I'd like to add something to the star. Maybe boards behind it? And that light needs to go!
