Creating a Mood Board

As most of you know, I spent last weekend at my sister's creating a nursery for my soon-to-be-born nephew.

Since my sister and I had a wide range of ideas on our Pinterest nursery boards, I decided to try creating a mood board.

I Googled, saw a plethora of options and decided on Olioboard.

Olioboard was much easier than I thought it would be. I created a pretty basic mood board, but if you look at creating a board with some flair, it can be done!

Check out some of these mood boards done in Olioboard...

I love the doors, ceilings and windows on this one!

I'm amazed how much this looks like a real room.

The gallery on the wood planked wall is fantastic!

I love how they put in a wood floor, and the poster bed on this.

Mine was not that detailed. I was at the "beginners" level, and the board was just for fun, however, it was sort of addictive. I wanted to make more after this one.

It was nice to put a lot of my ideas together visually in a "room".

1. ReStylesHop on Etsy.
2. Mimosa Pannels from Z Gallerie
3. Chair I chose from Olioboard
4. and 5.  Pillows I choose from Olioboard
6. Chevron Pillow from The Inglenook Decor
7. Pillow from Olioboard
8. Crib and sheet color from Olioboard
9. Crib material from Joann's Fabric
10. Dresser from Poppy Seed Living on Etsy
11. and 12. Orange frames from Olioboard
12. Be So Happy print by Seven Star on Etsy

In the actual room, the color, dresser, and crib stayed fairly similar to the mood board, but the pillows and wall art ended up being different due to price and fabric availability.

What I like most about these boards, is that you can see what prints go well together and if you have too much or too little of certain colors, if you need more texture etc...

So often I bring samples of material home (they only cut you a sliver, if any), and I bring items home and then have to return them because they just don't fit in the room right.

I think creating a board would really help with this problem!

So there's my take on mood boards!

Fun stuff. I hope you get a chance to try one!
