Vintage Damask Pillow

I found this terrific mustard and creme vintage damask the other day at the Goodwill.....(love). It was originally drapery, so it's lined and in excellent shape.

Since I'm really on a mustard color kick lately, I thought I'd make some pillows for my new office out of it.
I started this by taking out some seams. I felt this was the best part of the drapes to easily cut off and make into piping because normally it wouldn't be used.

Here you see me easily cutting off a hymned part of the fabric (There's already a line to follow...no measuring!). Using it as a stripe embellishment would be another idea.  (getting the most out of this beauty)!

Sewing the piping (No judging! I know I don't pin anything, and that my grandmother would be ashamed)!

I then cut a square out of the damask, and a square out of cheap creme fabric for the back side (still trying to hoard as much of the fabric as I could, in case I want to use it for other projects).

If you know me...I have a uncontrolled urge to embellish all pillows. So, here's the bird I found on line.

Cut it out, traced and cut to black material and some wonder under.

Finished product! ...now to make one for my other office chair.

  1. Curious as to what 'wonder under' is? Love the bird accent you added. So thrifty snag so awesome. A GW went in 1 mile from me, and I'm loving it.
