Toilet Paper Valentines Art: With the Kids Wednesday!

If you follow this blog, you'll see that I'm not a huge Valentine's Day crafter, mainly because I'm over my head in getting my bedroom done for the challenges on my side bar, however,  I was cleaning the bathroom the other day and saw some empty TP rolls and thought of this little craft, so....here it is!

1st,  take a really ugly GW frame and paint it with any color that makes it look...well, decent.

Next have your kids paint some empty toilet paper rolls, and cut them into stripes that are about 1/3 in thick (depending on how much you want them to stick out).

Then, shape the cut TP rolls into these cute little heart shapes.

Now, cover whatever  back you had in the frame, with material. I used burlap.

Once it's secure to the frame back (you can use spray on adhesive, or just tape the material to the back of the frame), start putting glue on the hearts.

Arrange the hearts in cute little rows.

Now you have some inexpensive, Valentines art that was fun to do with the kids. Another thing I like about this project, is that it is neutral enough to use year round. I think I'm going to put it in Chloe's room.

  1. Genius! I absolutely love it. It came out so stinkin' cute. I love when you can take something you already have and turn it into something that's pretty and that the kiddos love. I tried something similar with an outdated picture we had. If you get a chance it's at http://www.thenymelrosefamily.blogspot.com/2012/01/sea-life-hand-print.html Thanks for sharing.

  4. That is TOO cute and your children did a great job! It's funny because I was saving tp rolls and my son came by and asked why and gave me that "look" like Mom's slipping. I hate to inform him but that happened YEARS AGO!!! Anyway I was going to slice them and make swags and/or garlands with them...also painting them. I also thought I might leave them whole and paint them and then put letters on them like "Happy Birthday" etc; and string them all together in a banner. But of course, all HE saw was that "old" Mom was now hoarding tp rolls! They're probably already out there looking for a home for me! LOL!

    1. My theory lately is to keep it short....real short. By the time they paint for 5 minutes, they're sort of ready to move on to the next thing anyways :)
