On my long list of spring to-do's, front entry makeover can now be checked off!
Here is the lovely before pic.....pretty bad huh?
I have arrows pointing to some major problems.
1.) The flag we had for the past couple yrs was so tattered, the wind blew it over the light fixture, and the holes in the flag pulled the top of the fixture off.
2.) Do you ever wonder why all my front door wreath pictures are faded black around the edges?? Well, if you look closely at the wreath pics, you'll notice my door has been half semi-gloss and a 1/2 satin! I started to touch-up spots last fall, and after it dried, I realized that I had the wrong sheen! It was really cold after that and I just left it until now.....pretty bad huh?
3.) The pots....nuff said.
4.) Boring mailbox
So...
1). I spray painted some awesome light fixtures that my neighbor gave me. (before)
2.) I added my Pottery Barn knock-off front door wreath
3.) I had a tutorial on Dressing Your Planters for Less, where I should my planter painting/antiquing techniques and how to fill the planter with some free plants.
4.) I dressed up my mailbox. You should stop by Romance on a Dime, where I am guest posting on Saturday to see that tutorial.
5.) I also painted the door all the same sheen.
6.) And added a new flag. (I just love a house with a new flag.)
The before....
The after....
Ahhhh....so much better.

Wow, Katie! This looks fantastic and SO inviting! I love front porch makeovers :)
ReplyDeleteThe "Welcome" above your house number is such a fun touch (I realize it was already there in the before) and the pot colour makes them look very high-end!
I think I'll be on the lookout for a doormat shaped like yours instead of a rectangular one this summer.
I'll be watching for your tutorial this weekend!
Claire :)
I love all the changes you did, Katie! The ones I like the most are the planters (how nice they turned out), and the light fixtures! I was also working on my front yard this past weekend, I still need to do some more work, but I wish at the end, it looks as pretty as yours!
ReplyDeleteThanks Cristina, Your projects always turn out so good! Mine was pretty bad to start with. It's amazing how bad the outside can look after winter!

Katie- It looks great. You did a good job of sprucing it up and making it warmly welcoming for Spring and Summer. Love it- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteVery nice! I agree there is just something about a house with a fresh new flag! I found you via the hop at Someday Crafts.

I absolutely love what you did to your pots! I am thinking of redoing my boring tan colored pots and this is the perfect inspiration. Your entry is welcoming and beautiful. Enjoy. Megan
ReplyDeleteThanks Megan! Ya, I'd waited a few years to paint them. Wish I would have done it sooner.

ReplyDeleteIt looks absolutely fantastic! Awesome job.
ReplyDeleteLooking really good! Love the lanterns! Thanks for sharing your creative inspiration over at Sunday's Best!
ReplyDeleteWow! Katie, you did a wonderful job! What a transformation...not that it looked that bad just like it had survived a rough Winter! LOL! How long did it all take? Those lights are fantastic. I think I need bigger lights like that outside my home. I think the ones I have are too small for the house. There's something to be said for "scale". It REALLY looks grand! (applause, cheers...standing ovation!)
ReplyDeleteThanks Sam!
DeleteIt really didn't take too long. Too bad you don't live closer....my neighbor gave me 7 of those lanterns!
