Spring Mantel Project
complete!
I fully anticipated being finished with the fireplace and wall renovation, but oh well, at least we have a mantel to decorate. Until now, I don't think I've ever really decorated this mantel. We are working on the downstairs now, but in the past it's always been a big junk room and for over a year, it was our garage (lots of tools).
I love these little dollar store birds. I wish I would have bought more, although I have quite a few up already, I think I could over do it with these and that could get a little weird.
Our Spring Banner that the kids and I made.
Wrapped eggs. I used twine and plastic eggs.
I love these moss covered branches. They are from the good ol' Pacific Northwest. I broke them off some trees the last time I was up by Spokane.
I'm obviously getting really into this yellow, black and white theme we have going on in the basement.
Fabric that I traced in black sharpie, and Modge Podged on a plate. I think it really ties everything together.
This mantel decor was really inexpensive.
The Spring Banner was Dollar Store items and fabric scraps.
The B&W plates were 25 cents each at a yardsale.
The yellow plates are from the GW and have fabric glued on them.
The vases and candle holders were all from GW and yardsales.
Eggs in twine were things I already had.
Birds were from the Dollar Store (2 for a dollar!) They were there at Christmas time.
Flowers were from Hob Lob.
Mirror was from Lowes. I have it up year round.
Tree branches and moss...free. :)

I don't normally think of "black and white" as a spring colors scheme, but when you throw in the yellow and the natural items (like the mossy branches) it is so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely ADORE the black, white and yellow! I'd love it if you would come share it at my Link Party!
ReplyDeleteHoly cow! Your mantel is so beautiful! Oh how I wish I had a fireplace again!! I may be feeling some envy! lol
ReplyDeletexo Becca
This is the first mantel I've done in over a decade! This basement was our garage for so long, I didn't even consider decorating it. lol
DeleteMantels are fun to decorate, but I've seen so many faux mantels, or "mantel tables" lately, that if I'm without a mantel again, I'll just have to make a stand-in one!
Happy St. Pat's Day!

Love the white, black and yellow theme you've got going on. I can relate to wanting to have fireplace renovation done -- the materials for ours have been in the garage "maturing" -- like fine wine, don't want to use it before its time! Only that time keeps extending at our house! I would love it if you would consider linking to Busy Monday at A Pinch of Joy, a Sunday through Thursday link party for ideas that make life easier, better and more fun!
ReplyDeleteYour mantel is gorgeous! I love the intricate details, they really shine and make it fabulous!!
ReplyDeleteI love your banner! So beautiful and the yellow is gorgeous :)

I LOVE how you've incorporated the black into it....we have a lot of black in our house and sometimes it's hard to decorate for Spring/Easter and Summer with it. Thank you for the inspiration!

Melissa
